We build blogs and websites that you can update yourself using powerful software called WordPress. This can be downloaded for free from http://wordpress.org and installed on your own server; or you can try it out for yourself right now with a blog hosted on the WordPress servers using http://wordpress.com. What we do is:
- install the software for you
- arrange web hosting and a domain name if needed
- create a WordPress ‘theme’ (design template) for you, with the look and feel and functionality you need
- show you how to use your new site with documentation and a bespoke training video.
Business or Product Blogs
A blog is a great way to position yourself as an expert, build trust with your customers, drive traffic to your site, and increase search engine visibility. A blog is also a powerful content generator that can automatically push content out across a variety of social networks without you having to spend lots of time doing updates. And it can be just one aspect of your website, which may include static pages as well as blog posts, all of which can be managed yourself. Just add words.
Blogs may be used for:
- your business as a whole
- sharing news about your organization
- a product such as a book
- a project such as a charity or campaigning initiative
- building a community of interest in a discrete topic area
- and much more!
Want a blog like mine?
I’m such a fan of WordPress, I use it for all my own blogs and websites too. Here’s a selection:
Websites
You don’t have to have a blog to benefit from blogging software. WordPress can also be used as a powerful content management system, meaning you can have a simple ‘brochure’ website if you prefer, but have full control over the content. Add pages and update them whenever you want, using the powerful but intuitive interface, without having to go back to a web designer.
If you want to start blogging later, that functionality is built in. Or why not make your blog a ‘Latest News’ section that people can subscribe to by RSS feed or email?
We also produced the website and blog for the One World Trust. In this case we used Joomla for the main site, and WordPress for a blog that was added later. Both content management systems enable the Trust to add and maintain all content themselves.
